In the 1960s the new sport of diving was all the rage. For divers, timing was everything, and Breitling wanted to give them the clearest dive watch possible by eliminating all the features that didn't support their life-saving needs underwater. This simple watch was called Superocean Slow Motion. What remained were clean lines, thick luminous indexes, square hands and a high-contrast dial ring, all aimed at maximum legibility. Practical, yes. But what people really fell in love with was the look.

The new Superocean follows Slow Motion's celebrated design codes and adds modern features such as a scratch-resistant ceramic-encrusted bezel and brightly colored dials. Wide hands and indexes in a rainbow gradient of luminous Super-LumiNova® ensure easy readability. The watch is water resistant to 300 m and shock, sand and saltwater resistant. The rubber strap comes with a folding clasp that allows micro adjustments of up to 15mm so it can be easily worn over rashies and wetsuits. For safety, the ring is unidirectional.
